Community Housing all go!

Rongo Te Ata Opens in Pukekohe

Around 50 people gathered early on a wet Tuesday morning to mark the opening and blessing of Rongo Te Ata, Ember Korowai Takitini’s newest residential development in Pukekohe.

The site includes 14 new homes, made up of eight one bedroom and six two bedroom units, alongside shared outdoor spaces such as a communal BBQ area, sensory garden, children’s nature play space, and vegetable garden. During the opening, the site’s new names were unveiled and a carving by Brody Runga was formally blessed.

The ceremony was led by Kaumātua and Kuia from Ngāti Tamaoho, supported by Kaumātua John Marsden, Max Williams (Kaitohutohu Māori), and Peti Deed (Kaiwhakahaere Hononga Iwi). Ember kaimahi from across the motu attended, alongside representatives from Te Whatu Ora, project architect Ashton Mitchell, and construction partners LEP Construction.

The development is managed by Ember’s housing team, Kāinga Haumaru. The project provides safe, supported homes designed to offer stability and connection within the local community.
